Phoneography Challenge: Editing with Apps

IMG_4565 (640x640)

Good morning from a coolish Hastings.

This week, being the 5th Monday for June (although I am already into July), it is editing with the cool apps available.  That is the fun part for me.

I love Snapseed and it seems to be a favourite with other bloggers too.  The grunge affects are just so awesome.

IMG_3775 (496x640)

It adds atmosphere to the image as well as defining the flowers a bit more.

IMG_3773 (480x640)

IMG_4563 (513x640)

I can’t remember what I used here but the glow affect is interesting.

IMG_4548 (495x640)

I definitely can’t remember what app I used here.  When I get going I just move from app to app to see what affect I get and whether I like it or not.  I loved art at school and would have loved to take it further at university but family circumstances did not allow it.  So with all these apps I can start to unleash my inner artist in me to make up for time lost.

Cee’s Oddball Challenge: Week 18

IMG_1942 (488x640)

Good morning from a cool Hastings morning.

Time for Cee’s Oddball Challenge where anything goes.

Cee’s Odd Ball Photo Challenge: Week 18

My ex husband has had this concrete garden gnome all his life.  It is a bit battered and worn which is only natural considering it’s age.  It moved around with him when he moved, standing proudly at his front door greeting guest.

Just after we got married we were clearing up the garden one day and came across a companion for him.

IMG_1945 (488x640)

Yep, you guessed it.  Another concrete garden gnome,  the same size and proportions.  So then he painted both up and they both stand outside greeting people coming to the door.  Minus fishing rod of course.

A Rosy Sunrise at Cornwall Park

DSCF4836 (640x473)

Good morning from a cool Hastings morning.

No challenges today.  Instead here are some photos taken last week at Cornwall Park.  These were taken last Wednesday.  When I picked up my son from his bible class I could see that the light was going to be amazing so I brought him home and picked up my camera and headed down to Cornwall Park.  I wasn’t disappointed and it was an amazing sunrise.

I was disappointed though when I got home and uploaded my photos and found that 90% of them were out of focus.  Of that maybe  5 or 6 were due to camera shake.  I am reliant on the auto focus due to my arm still playing up so I was gutted to find that the autofocus is not up to scratch.  Even the better photos had to have the sharpness tweaked.

So if anyone has any advice I would love to hear from you.

The Daily Post. : Contrasts

IMG_4163 (496x640)Good morning from a cool Hastings.

This week the prompt is contrast from The Daily Post

http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_photo_challenge/contrasts/

I found this photo taken with my IPhone 5S of californian poppies silhouetted and contrasting against a green background.

Floral Friday: Stock Plants

DSCF2923 (499x640)

If you saw my photos yesterday for the A Word A Week challenge you would have noticed a flat at the back.  My neighbour is a great gardener and has these stock plants giving off a delightful welcoming aroma around the entrance to her flat.

A Photo a Week: Wildlife

335 (640x527)

Nancy’s prompt this week is ‘wildlife’.

Just after I moved into our new home I found this friendly fellow trying to move out.  So I stopped what I was doing to take photos.  As you do.

A Lingering Look at Windows: Week 26

IMG_4594 (640x462)

Good morning from a cold Hastings morning.

I was going through my photos and found this image of the window reflections at a local pizza parlour.  I loved the different lights and how they reflected back in the window.  I was with my daughter who rolled her eyes when I got out the cellphone. You can see the price lists also reflected in the window.

As you can see I had fun with the editing.

One Word Photo Challenge: Is there a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?

DSCF4526 (640x473)

Ok, this is a stretch on the prompt this week, which is gold.

I did try to take some photos more befitting this theme but the camera decided to strike.  So then I thought of these photos.  Last week after a particularly strong shower the sun came out and we had this amazing double rainbow. It was amazing that in one direction the sun was shining but behind the rainbow the clouds were dark and menacing.

DSCF4531 (640x515)

It was one of the strongest rainbow and even on zoom the colours are still really defined.

So is there a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?  No, just great colours of the spectrum.

Cee’s Fun Fotos: Straight lines

IMG_4145 (496x640)

Good morning from a warmer Hastings morning.

It is getting harder to find photos for challenges without my Mac but I do try my best.

This week Cee has asked us for straight lines:

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Straight Lines

I found this photo taken with my IPhone 5S a few months ago.  I like the contrast between the straight lines and the soft natural lines behind the trellis work.

Michelle’s Weekly Pet Challenge: Week 42 – Splish, splash I was taking a bath.

DSCF4058 (640x470)

Good morning from a warmer Hastings.  Yesterday never really warmed up until overnight – weird.

This week for Michelle’s Challenge it is time again to show some ducks enjoying the water at Cornwall Park.  It is a real challenge when the ducks are so active to get my photos in focus – my camera is super slow.  So these are the better ones this day.  What I do love is the colours in the water.  The autumn tones really show through.

DSCF4062 (640x470)

You can see how slow it is.  If I increased the shutter speed it would be woefully underexposed but then again it shows some action –  I suppose.

DSCF4041 (640x470)

DSCF4035 (640x470)

I have studied the ducks a bit just to get to know their habits.  So when a duck starts to bob up and under the water and splashing the water over their backs before rising up out of the water to stretch their wings.  I have lost count of the duds I shot out of focus.
