This week Jennifer has asked for mahogany.
So I am showing my solid mahogany table. I have no idea how old it is as I inherited it from my sister. Yesterday my parents were visiting and we just happened to talk about the table. My father, who loves working with wood was telling me that I needed to sand it down and polish it again. I was worried as I thought it was a veneer but no, he told me it is solid.
Apart from our beds, this table and chairs were the only furniture I was allowed to take when ex-hubby threw me out. He didn’t like it because it looked rather worn out. Actually those notches and marks on the table tell me of all the fabric I have cut out on it, all the crafts I have done on it and last weekend quilting. Some stage I will probably get round to doing some work on it. But not now.
So the table does get looked after, with just a wipe down. I couldn’t resist taking a photo of the lines in the light.
Here is some of the damage.
If I leave it long enough maybe I wont need to sand too much.

Oh, I will. I can’t afford a new one anyway. Maybe in 100 years it will feature on the Antiques Roadshow – if it survives my craft work on it. 😀

My husband likes the Antiques Roadshow but I can’t stand it. I always think of all those things I either tossed out or sold at a garage sale. Somebody is probably getting $$$$ from what I thought was junk. 😦

I forgot to mention the people that had sat around this table and the laughter and joy over a meal. 😀
