Good morning from a cool and so far calm day. I am a bit late today, but that is because I have been reading the weather report. Gisborne, north of where I live is expected to bear the brunt of Cyclone Pam. They have been told to stock up on food, water and candles to last for at least 3 days. We will get some of the bad weather, mostly high seas. That I would really love to see, but I don’t think I will be able to drive over to Napier in my small car. At the moment it is eerily calm. Yesterday was glorious so after seeing my parents I went to Pakowhai Park for some photos. As you do. It was beautiful, a native bush oasis right next door to the motorway. As you got further away from the motorway all you could hear was birdsong.
Anyway onto this challenge by The Daily Post. Cheri has asked for walls. Napier is full of colour. The colour palette of the Art Deco era. Apricots, light greens and blues. I found this mosaic in a side street in the CBD. I love the way they have incorporated typical Napier scenes in this mural. And then added the stained glass at the top.
Even something as functional as the toilet block walls have murals on them.

Thanks for visiting.
I liked looking up close at the mural. Good idea to paint on those blocks.
Hope the storm is kind to you. I am sure you will treat us to some great (and hopefully not destructive) photos.

Thanks Esther. The hardest part is the waiting around, when the weather is still good and knowing it will deteriorate fast.

Yes, I remember waiting for a hurricane to come from the Gulf of Mexico. Waiting! We were far enough inland and only got tree and fence damage. But that thing is like a living creature when it comes.
