One Four Challenge: May – Week 2

Sky added

I don’t know where the time goes.  It is time for week 2 of May’s photo for Robyn’s challenge over at Captivate Me.

I have only done a simple edit this week.  I have a Dummies guide to Photoshop CC so was doing some reading about selecting colours.  So with this knowledge I deleted the background and added a new sky with clouds.   I do think it brings out the apples a bit more.

Tell me what you think about this week.  I am open to some constructive criticism.  I would love some advice on what to do next, just for me to learn new techniques.

Five Photos, Five Stories: The Golden Hour

Glowing Golden Leaves-179

Every day the leaves are changing colours.  Every day the trees are becoming barer.  Every day the light is different.  Autumn has shown it’s colourful side.  This year it has been amazing.  The light has touched the trees and made them glow.  Catching this glow has been hard.  It is a work in progress.

With each shutter click you hope that you will capture that amazing photo.  You place the tripod in readiness for a great dawn.  You sometimes sleep in and then you beat yourself up for possibly missing the most amazing light.  Especially when you see the remnants of the wonderful sunrise.

You rush out in your pyjamas and bed hair.  The coffee can wait.  What is important is capturing that amazing light and clouds.  Then you wait until the sun is actually up and the light just makes the golden leaves glow.  Then you press the shutter like a madman.  Holding your breath.

The light fades as the sun is fully risen.  You come inside and the craving for your coffee hits you.  But you can’t wait.  It is more important to upload your photos.  Then you find that the exposures are wrong – you had the settings for another, brighter time of the day.  Sighing you go and get your coffee.

Tomorrow it starts all over again.

Watching for that elusive capture.

This is for this challenge.  I was nominated by Emilio at Photos by Emilio for this challenge.  So today I would like to nominate Aletta from nowathome.  She has some amazing photos, with my favourites being her oddball challenge photos.  No obligation Aletta.

Thanks for visiting.

Phoneography Challenge: Painted Macros

Painted Daisy-051

Good morning from a very windy Hastings day.  We have just had the most glorious sunrise so I have been outside with the camera in my  dressing gown.  I will post some of the photos tomorrow for my Wordless Wednesday post.  Apparently the downside of this sunrise spectacle is rain.  So that is what we can expect this afternoon.

I have started doing acrylic  painting classes.  It takes a lot longer to create a masterpiece than a painted photo. So for a change I used the Glaze app on my iPad to create my artwork with these macro photos.  So much easier and less mess.  Still I am really enjoying it – both actually.

Painted Pink Beauty-049

These last two photos didn’t really come up that well when I first edited them.  I thought they worked better with this app.

For this last photo I used Distressed FX as I wanted to focus on the strong autumn gold in this leaf.

This is for Sally’s challenge at Lens and Pens by Sally where we just use our mobile devices – no cameras allowed.

I will catch up with my reader later.  Am running late due to the sunrise.
