Thanks. I am on a mission to find some native birds. Then I have to check online to find out what they really are.

What an interesting bird. I’d never have thought him a member of the plover family. He looks more like a penguin 🙂 Great shot!

There were two of them. I have never seen them before. But now I am on a mission to find native birds. This I didn’t know.

Thanks Irene. It is a New Zealand native.

I didn’t know that. Compared to your natives that I do know (Wekka ?, Kiwi & Kaui?) it is a beautiful and colourful bird.

Thanks. I don’t think I will be finding any native Kiwi living wild where I live. But I am finding that I am becoming a bird watcher though.

I can understand that. A great way to relax I imagine.

A stunningly sharp photo of the Plover, doesn’t look threatening so it’s obviously not breeding season.

There was a pair of them. I had never seen them before. So I looked them up and realised that they were a New Zealand native bird. Thanks for visiting.

They nest in the most ludicrous places and swoop, I think at least one of the pair also has a sharp spur on their wings.

Very formal looking bird. It kind of reminds me of a penguin.

That is what I originally thought, until I researched online.
