Cee’s Oddball Challenge: Odd Cacti in Napier

Good morning from a cool Hastings day.

Although Cee is taking a blogging break her challenges continue.  My photos today were taken on Saturday over at Napier.  I love exploring around where I live.  I know Hastings really well but not so much Napier.  So I need to remedy that.  And that is what we did.  I have showed photos from the sound shell and other parts of the CBD in Napier, but I have never actually walked down to this garden.  We had so much fun wandering around and taking silly photos.

There was this odd ball sculpture created by Laurie Karasek at the Ilam School of Fine Arts at the University of Cambridge.  It is a bio morphic form floating like a giant water lily.  Actually I would call it an oddball sculpture.  Apparently there was a competition which was paid for by Sir Lewis and Lady Harris of Brooklyn Station here in Hawke’s Bay.  For once I actually took a photo of a plaque explaining what this is supposed to be.

Cacti are amazing plants with oddball shapes.
