One Four Challenge: July Week 4

Week 4
Week 4

Good morning from a warmer Hastings day.  We were almost springlike yesterday. I wonder how long this barmy weather will last until winter rears it’s cold head again.

Anyway it is week 4 of this challenge hosted by Robyn at Captivate Me.  This is where we get to edit a photo over 4 weeks.  For me it is a great change to learn new editing skills.  Anyway last Sunday I sat in the sun working on this final edit. This was started last month but I could finish it due to health issues.

For my final week’s version I just played around in Photoshop and then in Photoscape.  Don’t ask me what I did.  I just let the creative juices flow. I do know I used some of the preset filters in Photoshop before going over to Photoscape where I played around with their preset filters too.  Then I imported it into Lightroom and converted to black and white.

I quite like this affect.  It is like an optical illusion now.  My son, who is dyslexic looked at it and couldn’t see the face.  What do you see?

Cee’s Oddball Challenge: Odd Cacti in Napier

Freaky Plants-170

Good morning from a cool Hastings day.

Although Cee is taking a blogging break her challenges continue.  My photos today were taken on Saturday over at Napier.  I love exploring around where I live.  I know Hastings really well but not so much Napier.  So I need to remedy that.  And that is what we did.  I have showed photos from the sound shell and other parts of the CBD in Napier, but I have never actually walked down to this garden.  We had so much fun wandering around and taking silly photos.

Freaky Sculpture-083

There was this odd ball sculpture created by Laurie Karasek at the Ilam School of Fine Arts at the University of Cambridge.  It is a bio morphic form floating like a giant water lily.  Actually I would call it an oddball sculpture.  Apparently there was a competition which was paid for by Sir Lewis and Lady Harris of Brooklyn Station here in Hawke’s Bay.  For once I actually took a photo of a plaque explaining what this is supposed to be.

Freaky Plants-179

Cacti are amazing plants with oddball shapes.

Travel Theme: The Green, Green Grass of Home.

Good morning from a cool but sunny Hastings day.

Yesterday I headed over to Napier with two friends and we had a great time wandering around Marine Parade and taking some crazy photos.  While there I also managed to find some great grasses for Ailsa’s challenge at Where’s my backpack?.

But when I think of grass this song always pops into my mind.

So here are some of my green grass photos of home.

A couple of Pakowhai Park – such lush green grasses.

And then one from my lawn in the front.

WPC Challenge: Getting Up Close and Personal

Friday 24th July 2015-199

Good morning from a cool but sunny day.  The sun is just coming up and it should be a good day.  I am heading over to Napier again today with a couple of lovely ladies from my social snappers group.  So it should be fun.

Today’s challenge by  over at The Daily Post has asked us to get up close and personal with our photos.  Macros.  Which is great as yesterday we had a great time just wandering around the Women’s Centre taking photos.  It had been foggy which went very quickly.  Which disappointed me a little.  But that was okay because it left a very heavy dew and with the early morning light we had a fabulous time wandering around and just enjoying the opportunities.  We also found some early blossoms too.  So spring is showing some signs of arriving.  I am hanging out for some warmer weather.

 Friday 24th July 2015-031

The light was just right and the colours of the flowers were so bright and vivid.
