Cee’s Oddball Challenge: Careful Driving Advice

Mafia sign

Good morning from a very cloudy Hastings day.

It is always fun to go back over my archives to see what I can find.  This photo was taken in January 2007 in Auckland at the Kumeu car show.  I am surprised I didn’t take that many photos, compared to now. I think the card was really small and it didn’t allow me to take so many.

Anyway this is perfect for Cee’s challenge over at Cee’s Photography.  Monday for me means showcasing those great photos that don’t fit any category.

Travel Theme: Sock’s Feet

Sock's Feet-0283

Good morning from a warmer, sunnier Hastings day.

Ailsa from Where’s my backpack? has asked us for our feet photos.  Feet are something I generally don’t take photos of . The only ones I could find are mostly of Socks, my parents cat.  He is rather naughty and likes to sleep on the table.  Of course I had to have my camera out to take some photos.  So you can see why his name is Socks.

A Photo a Week: Fulling the Frame

Pakowahai Parak-047

This week Nancy from nancy merrill photography has asked us for photos that fill the frame.  So what else do I show, except daffodils.  It is now heading into spring – next Tuesday is officially the first day of spring.  So the gardens are now sprouting bright colours.  Such as this daffodil.

Yesterday was Daffodil Day – daffodils are used as a symbol for the Cancer Society as it represents hope.

The daffodil is one of the first flowers of spring, whose bright yellow blooms remind us of the joys the new season will bring. It represents the hope there is for the 1 in 3 New Zealanders affected by cancer.

These were taken yesterday at Pakowhai Park.  There was a big patch of wild daffodils and they stood proud in the sun.

WPC Challenge: From Every Angle

Pakowahai Parak-228

Good morning from a frosty sunny Hastings day.

This week  has asked us for photos from every angle.   Yesterday we headed for Pakowahai Park.  The light was amazing and the reflections awesome – you will be seeing some of them as my Monochrome of the Day.

Anyway we came across this shag in this tree.  It was very obliging and posed for us for some time.  So I was able to take it from different angles, but was somewhat limited by the sun.

Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Trees

Keirunga Gardens-9516

Good morning from a frosty Hastings day.

This week Cee from Cee’s Photography has asked us for our monochrome trees.  So where do I start.  I have so many trees.  So these were taking last Friday at my Social Snappers group at Keriunga Gardens in Havelock North.  What was good about these trees, was that they are still bare, so that they can look rather spooky when edited into monochrome.  So here goes.

I will be taking more photos of trees today as we will be heading to Pakowhai Park looking for some more daffodils as it is Daffodil Day today here in New Zealand.  My Friday Floral’s post today features another of my paintings which is now hanging up at my local bank, which is a major sponsor of this day.  Hopefully I can sell it.
