Good morning from another chilly Hastings day.
It does seem strange but it is Tuesday already for me, which means it is Sally’s challenge over at Lens and Pens by Sally. Being the second Tuesday of the month it is time for our macro photography. Normally I would do a floral image. Not today. This is an inset paua shell on one of the Pou which is in between the Heretaunga Women’s Centre and the Library and Art Gallery. This was taken on one of our Social Snapper outings.
The pou (carved posts) have been made in a partnership between Hastings District Council and Nga Marae o Heretaunga. The totara for the pou is from Waimana, a gift from the Tuhoe people. A marae has produced each pou to represent a tupuna (ancestor). Each pou faces the marae who contributed to the carving.
Here is the whole Pou just to show the shell in context.
Thanks for visiting.
