Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Architecture Styles in Wellington

Good morning from a cool but sunny Hastings day.

I have shown a lot of photos showcasing the different architectural styles in Wellington.  So here are some different ones showing the settlers cottages, alongside some more modern buildings – the Victoria University is the large building on the hill.  There is also a lot of Art Deco houses as well.  Such a diverse city.

One Word Photo Challenge: Cage

Good morning from a cool, but sunny Hastings day.

This week Jennifer has given us the prompt ‘cage’.  I knew this was coming up so I was so happy to see this wooden cage with bird in a shop window in the CBD, here in Hastings.

P.S.  Please don’t think I am being rude when I haven’t responded to your wonderful comments.  I always seem to be dashing off in the mornings – a driving lesson with my son.  He drives to his college and then I bring the car home.  He has to catch the bus home though.  We are both looking forward to when he has his own car and restricted drivers licence.  Hopefully it won’t be too long now.

Animal Friend of the Week: Agouti

This week I am featuring the Agouti.  I know it looks like a guinea pig but it is larger than guinea pigs.

A little info courtesy of Wellington Zoo.

In the wild

IUCN: Least concern

Despite being known as the Brazilian Agouti, they are also native to the forests of Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Trinidad and Tobago and Lesser Antilles.

Agouti are one of the few animals in the world that can open Brazil nuts without tools, thanks to their strength and sharp teeth – making them critically important to the survival of Brazil nut trees and the people who depend on them. These hard-working rodents open the fruit, take some of the nuts and bury the rest, which germinate to become new trees.

They look cute, but I wouldn’t like to get in the way of their teeth.

Animal Friend of the Week Challenge Logo-

I want to showcase our animal kingdom.  It runs from Tuesday New Zealand time and is weekly.  You can join in anytime at all over the week.  You can post your furry friends (babies), wild animals, birds, insects and butterflies.  Even reptiles are welcome.

Just use this logo and link back to this blog.

I look forward to seeing all the different animals around the world

Sally D’s Mobile Photography: Playing around with Repix

Repix 1- Repix-

Good morning from another cool Hastings day.

I am no into Tuesday, which means for me it is time for Sally’s challenge where all the photos are taken with any mobile devices.

This week, it is the 4th week of May, (where has the time gone?), which means it is the challenger’s choice.  So this week I have a couple of photos that I edited with this cool app Repix.  There are some great special effects and frames.  These are both the same photo but obviously with different filters.
