Animal Friend of the Week: Sulphur-Crested Cockatoos

Sulphur–crested Cockatoos are native to Australia and New Guinea, but there are several wild populations in New Zealand that likely originated from pet birds that were released illegally.

Cockatoos can live for a very long time – upwards of 70 years. They waterproof their feathers by creating a white powder, instead of oil (like most other birds).

Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge: Hastings by Night

Good morning from a cool but sunny Hastings day.

This week for my mobile photography I am showing these photos taken one night a couple of weeks ago. When I looked at the photos I wasn’t happy with the quality.  So what to do? Play around with them of course.

This time I have used an app on my computer which I had downloaded a couple of weeks ago called Pixlr which can be downloaded for free onto PC or Mac here.  There is also a mobile app as well.  But my eyes aren’t what they used to be so I use it on the computer.

There are so many cool effects and borders to.  Along with great stickers as well.
