Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge: Black & White around Hastings.

Social Snappers Day in Hastings-1131

Good morning from a chilly Hastings morning. I still can’t spend too long sitting at my computer so I must apologise for not being able to visit your blogs.  I am getting better but it is hard.

It is time for Sally’s challenge at:

https://lensandpensbysally.wordpress.com/2015/06/15/sally-ds-mobile-photography-challenge-black-and-white-and-simplicity-of-design-in-technology/

I did manage to get a couple of edits done on my iPad last night.  I have discovered that any Snapseed edits are not recognised so I then had to import them into Aviary and edit them there before saving them.  Social Snappers Day in Hastings-1132

These were taken last Friday with my social snappers group where we just walked around the Women’s centre.  It was too windy to go to Frimley Park.

Social Snappers Day in Hastings-1133

So have a nice day everyone and thanks for visiting.  Please excuse me if I don’t respond to your comments for a couple of days.

Phoneography Challenge: Painted Macros

Painted Daisy-051

Good morning from a very windy Hastings day.  We have just had the most glorious sunrise so I have been outside with the camera in my  dressing gown.  I will post some of the photos tomorrow for my Wordless Wednesday post.  Apparently the downside of this sunrise spectacle is rain.  So that is what we can expect this afternoon.

I have started doing acrylic  painting classes.  It takes a lot longer to create a masterpiece than a painted photo. So for a change I used the Glaze app on my iPad to create my artwork with these macro photos.  So much easier and less mess.  Still I am really enjoying it – both actually.

Painted Pink Beauty-047

Painted Pink Beauty-049

These last two photos didn’t really come up that well when I first edited them.  I thought they worked better with this app.

For this last photo I used Distressed FX as I wanted to focus on the strong autumn gold in this leaf.

Golden Leaf-040

This is for Sally’s challenge at Lens and Pens by Sally where we just use our mobile devices – no cameras allowed.

I will catch up with my reader later.  Am running late due to the sunrise.

Phoneography Challenge: Nature

Red Leaves-039

The first Monday of the month means showcasing our nature photos for Sally’s challenge at Lens and Pens by Sally.

Last night I had some phone on my iPad with Snapseed, Aviary and DistressedFX.

Light through the Leaves-041

Autumn Idyll-042

As we are into winter I wanted to show off our beautiful colours.

I don’t have time this morning to check out my reader.  I am off to my painting class.  Then it is back to the dentist to get my stitches out. So will to all your great blogs later today.

By the way what a lovely name the new princess has Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.  She does look like a Charlotte to me.  Adorable.

Phoneography: Challenger’s Choice – A Cat Showdown

Ginger Cat alone-598

Good morning from a warm soggy Hastings day.  Our country got a bit battered last night – lots of wind and rain for us.  We got the same storm that hit Sydney on Sunday.  We were okay here in Hastings but Wellington and Auckland got hard hit.  So thinking of you today.

Last week, after coming home from the park I was uploading my photos and recharging my camera when I noticed this cat just sitting watching my house.  This is weird as I am constantly finding cats either sitting or lying around in just this particular area.  I don’t know why, it is just that one spot.  I adore cats, one is either a cat person or a dog person.  I am most definitely a cat person and seem to attract stray cats.  They seem to sense a cat lover a mile off.

Anyway I grabbed my cell phone and took these photos.

Ginger Cat + grey cat-600

As I was watching from inside another cat came creeping past.  Very carefully.  Very carefully.

Ginger Cat + grey cat-606

The grey cat was literally tip toeing past the ginger cat.  The ginger cat didn’t even budge.

Grey Cat Alone-607

The grey cat then walked off.

It was fascinating watching this stand off.

Phoneography Challenge: Black and White

Black and White Daisies (1 of 1)

Good morning from a sunny Hastings day.

I want to thank everyone for their kind comments about the demise of my computer.  My son came home last night and opened it up.  It is totally dead.  Coffee is a very corrosive liquid for computer parts.  So he has kindly emptied out his computer and set it up for me to use.  Then we got a phone call from Apple in the USA, Texas to be exact and my son has ordered the new MacBook that is coming out shortly.  He will be using his iPad for school.  Thank you so much Martin.  Mum loves you.

Anyway this computer has better specs than the older one I was using and Photoshop runs smoothly.  The only thing is that it doesn’t have much storage.  Beggars can’t be chosers and I do have an external hard drive.

So I was able to upload my photos from my phone.  And found this photo of a daisy. Great for Sally’s challenge at  – Lens and Pens by Sally.

Phoneopgraphy Challenge: Macro

Red Trumpet

Good morning from a chilly Hastings day.  Winter has arrived in New Zealand.  Yesterday we had a lot of rain, but also sunshine but it never really warmed up.  The South Island is covered in snow. Today we are expected to be cold.  So yesterday I made a point of buying matches and a little bit of firewood as we have absolutely no form of heating at all.  Only a woodburner.  Last year we had a heat pump as well as a wood pellet fire which was a lot more economical.

So for Sally’s challenge at Lens and Pens by Sally I have gone for some bright fiery colours of this flower that was creeping over the fence.

Phoneography Challenge: Nature

Pink Beauty (5 of 1)

Good morning from a sunny Hastings day.  We are now into autumn but we are expecting temperatures in the high 20’s – celsius that is.

Another Monday – or for me Tuesday and that means it it time to show off our photos taken with our cell phones or other non camera devices.

My first two photos were taken at our Women’s Centre.  I had to wait to meet someone and was chatting about setting up a Social Snappers group when I spotted this potted plant.  So guess what I did – take photos of course.  I don’t know if they had even noticed.

The colour was so gorgeous.

These clouds were taken yesterday at our local supermarket.  The clouds were amazing.

Phoneography Challenge: A Rainy Morning

Delicate Touch of Rain

Good morning from a cool morning.  The sun is just starting to come up.  It is hard to work out what time it is when I wake up now.  It definitely is staying darker for longer in the mornings.  Autumn is definitely here.

It is the last day of March and it is challenger’s choice for Sally’s challenge at Lens and Pens by Sally.  This is when we use our non camera devices.  Even if I don’t have my camera on me I still have my iPhone 5S which has a good camera.

These photos were taken last Sunday.  I was totally bored, along with my parents at their stall at the school fair.  So I had both my phone and my camera with me so I took turns with them.  It rained heavily for about an hour or so and when the sun came out I used the phone to take these photos.  We had a plant stall next to us so I could take these photos without annoying anyone.

Phoneography Challenge: All creatures great and small.

Insect

Good morning from a cool Hastings day.

For this week’s challenge for Sally’s challenge at Lens and Pens by Sally it is the challengers choice.  So I have gone for both small as in this insect to birds in the sky at Port Ahuriri

Seagulls

This was the most successful of my attempts to take photos of seagulls in flight.

Abbey

Then there is Abbey and…

Socks (1 of 1)

Socks.

Everyone will have to wait for any photos of me going horse riding.  We just worked with ponies yesterday and learnt how to care for them.  I did take a couple of photos but was limited as only one person gave their permission to take their photos.  It was fun and the weather was great for us.  Thank goodness.
