Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge: Sunrises in the Hawke’s Bay

Sunrise

Good morning from another chilly start to a Hastings day. Actually it was a beautiful start to the day.  As usual I couldn’t sit still when I saw the sky so I raced out to grab some shots.  Which means I am now running late so please excuse me if I don’t get around to your blogs this morning.  I will try later today.

Apropos sunrises.  Every Sunday I drive down to Otane to the market.  I get to see some amazing sunrises.  I have now got into the habit of taking my camera.  But I have forgotten it a few times so out with the phone. And here is what I have seen. The iPhone 6S isn’t too bad for giving a misty look in the sun.

Cee’s Oddball Photos: Penguins in Wellington

The Penguins have popped up in Wellington-778

Good morning from a warm Hastings morning.

It is Monday here for me.  I have noticed that I am a day ahead of everyone with their Colour Your World posts.  I have just posted my Shamrock image while everyone is still on yesterday’s colour of Shadow.  It is fun to see how the new colour pops up as the world turns.

Anyway it is time for Cee Neuner‘s oddball challenge.  Thank you so much Cee for featuring my image of the zorbas last week.  It has been crazy in my world and I feel guilty at not acknowledging this honour.

So this week I have some penguins – not from the zoo, but at Te Papa museum.  There is a Dreamworks exhibition on there which my daughter really wanted to see.  The art works were amazing as well as the models.  Then I saw something I really, really want this Christmas please Santa.  Some 21″ interactive writing tabs for PC.  Ooooooh.  (Dream on).

Anyway I love the penguins in Madagascar – they are so cute and one has to love a trier (or two, or three).

Cee’s Black & White Photos: Candid Photos at the Zoo

Ooh, the watchful-

Good morning from a cool but so far sunny Hastings day.

This week I have soooooo many photos to chose from for Cee Neuner‘s great black & white challenge.  The zoo is a great place to get so many candid shots of the animals and the visitors.  The weather was perfect and we had so much fun.  And  I managed to get photos of animals in every enclosure we saw.  Normally I am not a fan of zoos but they are becoming increasingly important to keeping species from disappearing from our planet.  Wellington Zoo is also dedicated to educating children to look after our environment as well.

So enjoy some candid shots from Wellington Zoo.

Ooh, so cute-

I must apologise if I haven’t replied to all your wonderful comments – thank you so much for that.  It will take me a few days to get back to normal – today I have my Social Snappers group.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Smooth Waters and Taps

Shiny Tap-

Good morning from a clean Hastings.  Yesterday it was rather wet and stormy.  I was expecting more rain today but no, it is still windy but the sun is out shinning.  Just as well as the Art Deco Festival is well underway.  Cee Neuner has asked us for our smooth photos.  So first up is this tap.  There is a selfie somewhere on the tap – so much fun to see the reflections.

Pekapeka Wetlands

Then there are the smooth waters at Pekapeka Wetlands.

One Word Photo Challenge: Hay Bales

Hay Bales-

Good morning from a cloudy but warm Hastings day.

This week Jennifer Nichole Wells has asked us for our photos of barns in her challenge.  Here in the milder part of New Zealand we don’t have a lot of barns to store hay.  Instead you will find piles of hay bales, such as these dotting the landscape.  It may look all neat and tidy but there is a lot of plastic wrapping and the rubbish needs to go somewhere.
