A Photo a Week: Brighten up your day

Sunny Amaryllis

The other day I had a very early dentist appointment.  It was in Havelock North, just to the east of Hastings.  It is only 15 minutes to drive there.  I don’t normally drive around Havelock North.  I left home with plenty of time.  Or so I thought.  I got lost.  I stopped several times to google where the dentist is.  I got even more lost.  So I went back to the centre of the township and finally found the right road, after driving through a supermarket car park.  Needless to say I wasn’t happy with myself.  Then I got told that I would need to pay out nearly $800 for a tooth implant. (hopefully the rest of it will be subsidised).  So I was not a happy chappy.

Then I saw these cream coloured amaryllis in the sun.  So the cell phone came out.  I have noticed that the sun is getting lower and lower in the sky.  So it makes for a lot of great affects with back lighting.

There was also a tub of cream coloured petunias.

Again backlit.  My day was much brighter for seeing this, and for no-one stopping me from taking these photos.

Perfect for Nancy at nancy merrill photography and her prompt this week.

Phoneography Challenge: Macro

Macro Amaryllis-

Good morning from a grey looking Hastings.

Another week has gone and it is time for another colourful post with my camera for Lens and Pens by Sally‘s challenge. My mother just loves amaryllis plants and buys them for inside the house when they are in full bloom and then plants them outside.  This is one of them.  These were such a show in March when they were blooming.  Every time I visit them either the camera or the phone comes out and I always wander around taking photos.

This challenge is for all non camera devices – so for phones etc.  These were taken with my iPhone 5S. For more information check out Sally’s blog

Phoneography Challenge: Macro – Amarylls

Amaryllis

Good morning from another beautiful sunny Hastings.  It really is nice to see some sun for more than 10 minutes after last week’s miserable wet weather.

Time for Sally’s challenge for my IPhone 5S.  It is apt that tomorrow Apple will be giving us a new IPhone.  The camera should be interesting to see.

As I have spent a lot of time at my parents house I make use of my cellphone when my mother has interesting flowers.  This was the most gorgeous pink amaryllis.

So I have spent some time playing with different apps on the phone.  Sorry I can’t remember which ones I used – most of them are combinations to get the affects I felt were more interesting.

007 (506x640)

I think this one was with SnapSeed as well as PhotoStudio for the frame.

002 (485x640)

I think this was with PS Express and I inverted the colours as you can see.

003 (485x640)

I definitely can’t remember this app at all.

005 (480x640)

This was SnapSeed and possibly PhotoStudio.

It is so easy to get carried away with the apps.  For me it is like going into the Tardis – several hours go by before I emerge from it again.

Look up, Look down Challenge: Week 23 – Red

DSCF7770

Good morning from a beautiful sunny Hastings with no wind.  Bliss.  For now.

It is now Friday for us, but still Thursday in most parts of the world and it is that time of the week for Travel with Intent‘s challenge.

My theme today is red.  There are these red roses that peeped over the top of a fence.

And this is an amaryllis that I found enjoying the sun.

Thanks for visiting.
