Sally D’s Mobile Photography: Black and White

Shadows-2

Sally from Lens and Pens by Sally has renamed her challenge to Sally D’s Mobile Photography.  This is a great challenge where we get to showcase all photos taken with our mobile devices such as phones and tablets.

I have this great new computer.  But there was a glitch when it came to uploading my photos.  It wouldn’t upload my edits with Snapseed.  Only with Adobe’s Aviary app.  But i had edited these photos with Snapseed.  Any advice is really welcome as I use Snapseed a lot.

So I just had to edit these quickly with Lightroom.

Bark-2

These photos were taken at Pakowhai Park.  These were taken after my camera’s batteries had died.  It is always so handy to have a camera on my phone.

Leaves-2

I will have to google it.

Cee’s Fun Fotos: Car Mascots

Car Mascot-0541

My entry for this week’s challenge by Cee.

Below is a gallery of all the mascots I found at the Art Deco weekend last February.  I think it is a shame that they don’t have them anymore.

I found that the colours were too distracting so I have done them in monochrome.

Phoneography Challenge: Black and White

Black and White Daisies (1 of 1)

Good morning from a sunny Hastings day.

I want to thank everyone for their kind comments about the demise of my computer.  My son came home last night and opened it up.  It is totally dead.  Coffee is a very corrosive liquid for computer parts.  So he has kindly emptied out his computer and set it up for me to use.  Then we got a phone call from Apple in the USA, Texas to be exact and my son has ordered the new MacBook that is coming out shortly.  He will be using his iPad for school.  Thank you so much Martin.  Mum loves you.

Anyway this computer has better specs than the older one I was using and Photoshop runs smoothly.  The only thing is that it doesn’t have much storage.  Beggars can’t be chosers and I do have an external hard drive.

So I was able to upload my photos from my phone.  And found this photo of a daisy. Great for Sally’s challenge at  – Lens and Pens by Sally.

Cee’s Black and White Challenge: Phone Numbers

Numbers

Good morning from a frosty Hastings day.

This week Cee at Cee’s Photography  has asked for photos of numbers.  What photo to use.  I was using the phone and saw all the numbers on it – so I just took a photo of it and edited it in Photoshop.

Monochrome of the Day: Full Moon

Full Moon (2 of 1)

Good morning from a cool and cloudy Hastings day.

Thanks to Marilyn from SERENDIPITY who tagged me for this challenge.  I have already done it but have decided to do a Monochrome of the Day.  As I have already nominated others I won’t be nominating anyone.

This photo was taken of the full moon on Saturday night – no tripod.  I didn’t need to edit it to black and white as it was already a  monochrome image. I missed the blood moon as it was in the early hours of the morning and it was cloudy here in the Hawke’s Bay.  I got it last time and now will have to wait 3 years.

Monochrome of the Day

Monochrome Daisy (1 of 1)

Marilyn from SERENDIPITY has tagged me for this 5 day challenge.  I have already done it but have decided to do a monochrome image every day.  I love monochromes as they can say so much more than the colour images.  As I have already done it I wont be tagging anyone else.

This image was taken at my parents house and loved the way it was back lit from our strong sun.  I love this monochrome look which brings out the details of the leaves.

Monochrome Madness

Raewyn's Photo's.

Good morning from a cool and grey Hastings morning.

Last week I did a 5 day black and white challenge. Black and white was always fun for me, especially in the darkroom.  I did some printing with colour, but black and white had so many more possibilities. But with time and children that sort of faded into the background.   But now, with the digital age I can really get back into it.  So I have decided to join Monochrome Madness.

It is run by Leanne at:

http://leannecolephotography.com/2015/02/11/mm49-monochrome-madness-49-2/

So here is my first entry.  I love the way that a photo can completely change it’s ambiance when converting from colour to black and white.  With this photo the focus is squarely on the petals and the stems fade into the background.

So check out this wonderful world of monochrome madness.  There are some amazing monochrome photos each week.

Thanks for visiting.

Cheers

Black and White Challenge: Day 5

Black and White Flower (488x640)

The last day for this challenge.  I do love black and white and now must really do some more work.  I appreciate all your comments and likes.  My first love was always black and white and working in the dark room.  For me it was like going into a time warp.  I could literally spend hours and loads of money in the dark room.  I am just loving this digital photography where any adjustments is just a click and no paper or chemicals involved and little money.

This photo was taken late yesterday afternoon at Port Ahuriri in Napier.  Edited with Snapseed and Aviary.

So for my last day of this challenge I am nominating Stacey at:

https://lensaddiction.wordpress.com/

I love her attitude to her photography.  So Stacey, your mission should you accept it, is to post a black and white image each day for 5 days and nominate another blogger to take part in the challenge. If you can’t manage it that is ok.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have enjoyed my black and white photography.

Cheers

Black and White Challenge: Day 4

IMG_0976 (488x640)

Day 4 of this challenge. I was amused with the comments I got yesterday.   Thanks to those who left comments.

The one thing about editing on my iPad is that I don’t get to see what the image is like when enlarged.  It wasn’t until I put it on the computer that I saw just how spooky the image really was.  The same with today’s image.

i just went by my gut instinct when I edited these photos for this challenge.  What I love about black and white is the atmosphere in a photo can be enhanced as compared to the colour image.

As part of this challenge I get to nominate another blogger to participate.  So today I am nominating Dawn from

https://lingeringvisions.wordpress.com/

Her photos are amazing.

So Dawn, if you accept this challenge you post a black and white photo each day for 5 days and nominate a person each day.  If you can’t manage it, then that is ok.

Thanks for visiting.

Cheers
