Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Liquids

Good morning from a wet and miserable Hastings day.  We have got off lightly compared to Wellington.  There has been a lot of rain and flooding down there and today the trains are not running and people have been encouraged not to go into work today.  Some people didn’t even get home yesterday.  The hotels then put up their prices for those who had to find somewhere to stay.  Where is the community spirit?

Rather appropriate that Cee’s challenge at Cee’s Photography has given us the prompt to find our liquid photos.  This photo was taken at the hot house in Cornwall Park last week with my social snappers group.

WPC Challenge: Afloat

Follow the Leader (1 of 1)

Good morning from a rather grey Hastings morning.

My daughter arrived safe and well yesterday and it was great to see her again.  Even better still she got some results from her first assignment and one was an ‘A’ and the other a
‘B-‘ so she is over the moon.  One could say she was floating on cloud nine.

So onto the weekly challenge set by The Daily Post which is afloat.  Last weekend I went to Anderson Park for some photos of the black swans.  Even though the light was very dark for being the middle of the afternoon I still managed to get some good shots. This is almost a monochrome image with a splash of colour – though I haven’t edited it much.

And here is a fish floating in the pond in the hot house at Cornwall Park.  Just another splash of colour.

The Daily Post: Extra, extra

Good morning from a drier Hastings.  I think today will be a clean up day around the North Island.  I hope everyone is safe and warm after this storm.

This week the prompt from The Daily Post is ‘Extra, Extra’.

Extra, Extra

A beautiful photo is one thing, but a photo with an unexpected detail has personality and pop. This week, share a photo that has a little something extra.

This photo was taken at the Display House at Cornwall Park.  In the middle of the room there is a pond with goldfish in it.  I spent some time in it playing around with the UV filter trying to get some of the reflection of the roof as well as showing the fish in the water. It was rather hypnotic  trying  to get some good shots of the goldfish while the reflections were making psychedelic waves.

Here are some great posts for this challenge.
