Sunday Stills: Train Tracks
This week Ed from Sunday Stills has given us the Letter T as his prompt. I had a bit of a think and then remembered that I had photos of train tracks. A double T.
I love the direction that tracks give us. Straight or curved.
Or merging into one.
These are of the miniature railway at Keirunga Gardens.

Cee’s Oddball Photo Challenge: Paint Brushes and Palette
Good morning from another bright sunny day in Hastings.
Last Friday my Social Snappers group went to Keirunga Gardens in Havelock North to find some spring flowers. My group is now growing from 3 lovely ladies to 8 ladies. We are really enjoying exploring our local gardens and parks. I last went to these gardens over 10 years ago and it is nice finding all these beautiful gardens.
There is an art centre at Keirunga Gardens, with a quilting group and other art forms. And right to the entrance to the gardens we found these sculptures of a paint palette and..
these paint brushes carved out of trees.
When I saw these I knew that they would be great for Cee’s challenge over at Cee’s Photography – her oddball challenge.

WPC: A Stunning Day at Keirunga Gardens in Havelock North
Good morning from a sunny Hastings day.
Today CHERI LUCAS ROWLANDS for the Weekly Photo Challenge has asked us photos from an ideal day. Perfect timing to show off some photos from my Social Snappers group’s outing to Keirunga Gardens in Havelock North. The weather was perfect. The gardens are just coming alive with the first signs of spring – the first daffodils,
Some snowdrops,
some jonquils.
Trees were coming alive with blossoms.
And we were serenaded by the Tuis which are now very active.
All in all, my favourite way to spend the day.

Wordless Wednesday: Karamu Stream in Havelock North
WPC: Beneath my Feet
Good morning from a cooler Hastings day.
For this week’s challenge at The Daily Post CHERI LUCAS ROWLANDS has asked us for photos under our feet.
Each Friday, we ask you to look through your lens in a different way. In the past, we’ve challenged you to get close. Gaze up. Peek out the window. Today, look down and document the world beneath your feet.
Yesterday my Social Snappers group headed over to Havelock North to a beautiful spot where there was a small river under the main bridge entering the township. The weather was perfect. No wind, not a cloud in the sky and we had a great time wandering around shooting to our hearts content. It was a bit wet underfoot with some large puddles as in the first photo.
These daisies were large – they didn’t have to worry about being mowed down.
And we found some buttercups.
What we are now finding is now that we are nearly into the middle of August the light is starting to get stronger. By 11 o’clock it is too strong. Next term we will be starting earlier and finishing earlier.

A Photo a Week: Brighten up your day
The other day I had a very early dentist appointment. It was in Havelock North, just to the east of Hastings. It is only 15 minutes to drive there. I don’t normally drive around Havelock North. I left home with plenty of time. Or so I thought. I got lost. I stopped several times to google where the dentist is. I got even more lost. So I went back to the centre of the township and finally found the right road, after driving through a supermarket car park. Needless to say I wasn’t happy with myself. Then I got told that I would need to pay out nearly $800 for a tooth implant. (hopefully the rest of it will be subsidised). So I was not a happy chappy.
Then I saw these cream coloured amaryllis in the sun. So the cell phone came out. I have noticed that the sun is getting lower and lower in the sky. So it makes for a lot of great affects with back lighting.
There was also a tub of cream coloured petunias.
Again backlit. My day was much brighter for seeing this, and for no-one stopping me from taking these photos.
Perfect for Nancy at nancy merrill photography and her prompt this week.
