One Word Photo Challenge: Camera

Good morning from another cold and frosty morning. So I slept in today.  Well actually I couldn’t get up from my warm and cosy bed.

This week Jennifer has asked us for photos of cameras. So here is my old Nikon taken with my cell phone.  I love the reflection on the lens.

Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge: Black & White Impressions at Arataki Honey Farm

Honey jar-003

Good morning from a frosty Hastings day.

The third week of the month is black & white for Sally’s challenge over at Lens and Pens by Sally.  This challenge is using our mobile devices – tablets and phones.  When my Social Snappers group went to Arataki Honey Farm I got out my iPhone 5S to grab a few photos as well.  There was so much to see and take photos of.

I loved this honey jar shaped like a bee hive.

And this polished bowl on the scales has a honey comb shape on one side.

All these have been edited with Snapseed.

I won’t be able to visit all your blogs this morning so will catch up with everyone later today.

Thanks for visiting.

Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge: Arataki Honey Farm

Arataki Honey Farm-007

Good morning from a warmer Hastings day.

Last Friday my Social Snappers group went to Arataki Honey Farm.  It was really interesting and the bees were behind glass.

Arataki Honey Farm-032

It was really hard to take clear and sharp photos as the bees were constantly on the move.

Arataki Honey Farm-040

There were several types of bees and it was so fascinating watching them – mesmerising.

Arataki Honey Farm-014

And the honeycombs made for great abstract photos too.

The smell of honey was very strong.

This is for Sally’s challenge over at Lens and Pens by Sally where we showcase our mobile photography which for me is my iPhone 5S. Welcome back Sally.  We missed your challenge.

Thanks for visiting.

PS.  I will catch up with everyone later – my painting class today.

A Serendipitous Winter

Autumn -151

Good morning from a freezing Hastings day.

Marilyn over at SERENDIPITY showed some of her summer photos today.  But here in the southern hemisphere we are still in the depths of winter.  It has been a strange winter.  Our autumn was very colourful and long.

Winter frosts-102

But the winter frosts did arrive earlier this year than normal – in April. But the days were reasonably warm.

Then we had some warm balmy days but then we had some freezing days with snow low on the hills around us.

Winter snow-8881

Normally the snow doesn’t fall this low around us.

Then we have been having some warm balmy days, so that the spring blossoms are starting to make an appearance.

It is hard to believe that in a couple of days we will be in August.  Only a month to go until we are officially into spring.  Then in September we will have our blossom parade.  Then we know that we are really into spring.

I live in a warmish temperate climate.  Yes, it can get cold, but then it normally doesn’t last too long.  This week I haven’t needed to light the fire.  But then this morning I got up and it was freezing again so the fire is going strong.

The weather is such a fickle thing.

Go and check out Marilyn’s Photo Prompt for her amazing summer photos.

Sally D’s Mobile Challenge: A Friendly Fantail

Friday 19th June-8732

Good morning from a very cold and frosty Hastings day.  Last night was the coldest night ever all over New Zealand.  And I am late this morning as I have been trying to get my fire going.  It is freezing.

Last Friday I went out with my social snappers group to Frimley Park.  As we were walking around my battery died on my camera.  So I got out my iPhone 5S as this friendly fantail flitted around us.  We were talking loudly but that didn’t scare this little bird off.  I drained the cellphone getting photos.

I will catch up with everyone later.  I have my painting class today. So here is what I have been doing the past few weeks.

Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge: Black & White around Hastings.

Social Snappers Day in Hastings-1131

Good morning from a chilly Hastings morning. I still can’t spend too long sitting at my computer so I must apologise for not being able to visit your blogs.  I am getting better but it is hard.

It is time for Sally’s challenge at:

I did manage to get a couple of edits done on my iPad last night.  I have discovered that any Snapseed edits are not recognised so I then had to import them into Aviary and edit them there before saving them.  Social Snappers Day in Hastings-1132

These were taken last Friday with my social snappers group where we just walked around the Women’s centre.  It was too windy to go to Frimley Park.

Social Snappers Day in Hastings-1133

So have a nice day everyone and thanks for visiting.  Please excuse me if I don’t respond to your comments for a couple of days.

Sally D’s Mobile Photography: Black and White

Sally from Lens and Pens by Sally has renamed her challenge to Sally D’s Mobile Photography.  This is a great challenge where we get to showcase all photos taken with our mobile devices such as phones and tablets.

I have this great new computer.  But there was a glitch when it came to uploading my photos.  It wouldn’t upload my edits with Snapseed.  Only with Adobe’s Aviary app.  But i had edited these photos with Snapseed.  Any advice is really welcome as I use Snapseed a lot.

So I just had to edit these quickly with Lightroom.

These photos were taken at Pakowhai Park.  These were taken after my camera’s batteries had died.  It is always so handy to have a camera on my phone.

I will have to google it.

As I have my art class this morning I won’t have time for my reader this morning so will catch up with everyone later.

Thanks for visiting.

Phoneography: Challenger’s Choice – A Cat Showdown

Ginger Cat alone-598

Good morning from a warm soggy Hastings day.  Our country got a bit battered last night – lots of wind and rain for us.  We got the same storm that hit Sydney on Sunday.  We were okay here in Hastings but Wellington and Auckland got hard hit.  So thinking of you today.

Last week, after coming home from the park I was uploading my photos and recharging my camera when I noticed this cat just sitting watching my house.  This is weird as I am constantly finding cats either sitting or lying around in just this particular area.  I don’t know why, it is just that one spot.  I adore cats, one is either a cat person or a dog person.  I am most definitely a cat person and seem to attract stray cats.  They seem to sense a cat lover a mile off.

Anyway I grabbed my cell phone and took these photos.

Ginger Cat + grey cat-600

As I was watching from inside another cat came creeping past.  Very carefully.  Very carefully.

Ginger Cat + grey cat-606

The grey cat was literally tip toeing past the ginger cat.  The ginger cat didn’t even budge.

Grey Cat Alone-607

The grey cat then walked off.

It was fascinating watching this stand off.

This is for Sally’s challenge at Lens and Pens by Sally.

I absolutely love what Meg does using her phone.  Her work is amazing so check her photos out at:
