One Word Photo Challenge: Melon
This week Jennifer  at Jennifer Nichole Wells has given us the colour melon.  I found these gorgeous lilies some time ago and just love the melon colour.
This is probably a bit dark for melon but some of the lighter petals are definitely melon.

A Photo a Week: Up Close and Personal
Good morning from another bright and sunny day. Â Yesterday was really uncomfortable with the heat and humidity. Â We had the nations high of 29 degrees celsius but with the humidity it was worse. Â My wonderful son did some more gardening for my parents again as part of our Christmas present to them and he really suffered. Â Â But the garden is slowly getting some sort of order in it. Â A lot more is needed.
I spent the time doing a video of my father working his lathe which I am trying to sell for him. Â Plus I grabbed a few photos. Â My mother is so bemused when I wander around with my iPhone taking photos. Â As you can see.
I have finally figured out how to do a gallery. Â So much quicker for me.
This week Nancy is getting up close and personal so here are a few photos from yesterday.

Close to Home
Good morning from a cool but sunny Hastings. Â Hopefully the stormy weather is over and warmer weather comes back.
Yesterday was a strange day with showers on and off all day. Â It was odd hanging out my washing with drops of rain falling. Â I got it dry though. Â So I didn’t get to go for a walk but I got out around the garden for a few photos. Â This one is my favourite.
Just as I turned around I noticed this sparrow on the clothes line so only just managed to get this photo before it flew off.
I love the way the trellis frames these flowers – daisy or margaritas – someone please tell me if I am wrong.
These are just about past their best now but I loved the way they were so close together.
The grapes are starting to grow. Â I have taken lots of photos just of the leaves as there is so much texture in them.
These astroemerias are just lovely. Â I had to google for the spelling of these. Â I thought at the beginning that these were lilies but now know that they are not. Â No I am not going to spell it again. Â They are really coming into their own.
This is what I did last night with these flowers for my Words of Inspiration blog. Â These flowers represent friendship, commitment and care for one another so I chose a quote from Socrates which I felt went with the meaning. Â The font is Herculanum – an ancient latin font perfect for Socrates.
So you don’t have to go far for some good photos.
Cheers and have a nice day.

After the rains
Good morning from another grey day here in Hastings.
Over the past couple of days we have had some heavy rains and the poor plants got a bit of a hammering.  Yesterday when there was a break in the rain I went out to see what photos I could take.  It was still very overcast so it was hard exposure wise to get a good depth of focus on what I  really wanted.  I am fascinated with rain drops and the little images that could be seen on  them, upside down of course.  I know to get some really awesome photos there is a special lens as I have seen photos done that are just amazing and incredible but I think I have managed to get some small images in the raindrops on these lilies.
There was a lot of great shots to take and it was a matter of where to start. Â In the end I didn’t take that many as it was starting to rain again.
Because it was overcast the images are rather muted and very soft. Â Next time I will try when the sun is out fully and then I can really have some fun.
Anyway all the best for Emirates Team New Zealand. Â We are all behind you.
Cheers and have a nice day.
