Cee’s Oddball Challenge:
Good morning from a cool but sunny Hastings morning. Today my daughter goes back down to Wellington. Â It has been great catching up with her and going on a photo safari with her. Â My son enjoyed having his sister back. Â They have been watching Marvel’s Daredevil on Netflix together and catching up on other movies as well.
A big thanks to Cee for featuring my airplane hat from last week.  I just couldn’t resist taking that photo.  I was at that fair all day and that was the only one I saw.
This week while out with my daughter I came across these mushrooms growing out of this tree. Â They look like umbrellas on the tree.

Cee’s Black and White Challenge: Mushrooms up close
Good morning from a grey, wet and miserable Hastings.
Even though the weather was lousy yesterday I still managed to get out and find some photos. Â Actually I don’t have many rainy day photos as it has hardly rained over the past few weeks. Â Even with no rain we still got some mushrooms growing in the lawn, thanks to heavy dews in the morning.
I don’t know what my neigbours think when they see out in the rain down on the ground taking these photos.  All in the name of art. And for Cee’s challenge at Cee’s Photography
Today I am excited as my daughter Ruth is coming up to visit me for the weekend. Â They have a mid semester break so she is now on the bus on her way. Â It seems a long time since she left but it is only 2 months since she left. Â We have some photo safaris planned as she is doing photography at university – hope the weather improves somewhat.

Cee’s Black and White Challenge: Small Objects
Good morning from a cool but dry Hastings morning.
This week the prompt  from Cee for this challenge is small objects.
I used ColorStrokes for the black and white editing as I like the fact I can do different lighting affects. Â For all these photos I have used the dreamy affect which makes the textures show up a bit more and make the subjects stand out against the background.
Some more mushrooms.
A magnolia seed pod (?) I found on the ground.
Another leaf.
I have used this photo as I love the silhouette of the birds in the tree.

A Photo a Week: Texture, Look Up, Look Down
This week the prompt from Nancy is texture.
http://nadiamerrillphotography.wordpress.com/2014/04/16/a-photo-a-week-challenge-texture/
Since we have had a lot of rain over the past 2 weeks the mushrooms are sprouting up everywhere. Â I found this one at Cornwall Park. Â What caught my eye was the texture on it.
As I was looking down for these photos I can also add this to Debbie’s Look Up, Look Down challenge.

Look Up Look Down Challenge Week 17
Good morning from another very hot Hastings.
I know that America is experiencing a big freeze at the moment and the UK and Europe is mopping up after their terrible storm, so my thoughts go out to those suffering.
This weeks challenge  Look Up, Look Down Challenge – Week 17 with Travel with Intent was taken on the same day, but very different flora.  Looking up I have gone for spring blossoms.
While looking down, I found some mushrooms on the berms close to my home. For those who don’t know what a berm is, it is a small stretch of grass area next to the road outside your property. Â I never knew it was called this until it became local news after problems as to who is responsible for keeping them tidy – us or the local council. Â It went viral here. Â So I have learnt something new.
Anyway…
