Mandarin Orange Monday 91

Good evening from Hastings.

I haven’t done this challenge for a while – sorry Lorik but I have been having problems getting your posts.

But I do love doing this as it is all up to your imagination and it doesn’t have to be so formal.

These two photos were taken at the same spot – by our local tennis court.  I love how the spider webs are building up around this woven heart.

I will start with the tap.

I have found a great new app – FX Foto Pro so I started there.

Scratched paper

I added some texture to the tap with some scratched paper.

Marine

Then the marine filter.

Vintage

And the vintage filter.

Fresco

Then I went to Photoshop and added the fresco filter.

Finally I went orange

Orange gradient tap

I did do some tweaking with the shadows and highlights but lost the photo.

For the heart I also started at FX Foto Pro

Glowing Hue

First I used the glowing hue filter.

Silk

Then added a little texture with the silk filter.

Hippie

Finally I added the hippie filter before heading back to Photoshop.

Poster Edges

For some poster edges.

Sorry but I can’t upload the orange gradient photo.

I tweaked that a lot with the shadows and highlights in order to get more detail in the  heart.

Framed final image

Then I tweaked around a bit more and moved the tap to the bottom left of the image before heading back to FX Foto Pro.

Absolutely final image

I framed it and then used the vintage filter for the absolutely final image.

It is not perfect but more of a surreal photo and is a means for me to learn more about photo editing.

Phoneography Challenge: Nature

IMG_3440

Good morning from a rather soggy Hastings.

This challenge by Sally is nature this week.  I found these rather interesting leaves at the home improvement store I visited last week with my parents.  Actually left to my own devices I would have spent hours there.  The types of plants were amazing.

IMG_3440 + dry brush

I added a dry brush with Photoshop.

IMG_3440 + poster edges

And then poster edges for some more definition.

Here are some other great posts to check out.

Embellishments made easy

Good morning from a sunny Hastings this morning.

I am so excited that I have learnt a quick and easy way of doing digital embellishments.  I have spent the past week working on Photoshop and Preview trying to find a quick and easy way of doing them.  I would do one but then I would forget to how I did it so it was basically back to square one again.  Then late Friday night I suddenly clicked – in other words I clicked on the right icon and it was then soooooo easy.  So then I spent the weekend doing embellishments.  I use a mac but I would imagine Windows is very similar.

I asked my son how to video it and he showed me how to use screen capture to film what I was doing on screen and voila.  I had a video, which I then uploaded to YouTube.

Red and white geraniums

This is the embellishment I did with the video.

A rich world

And this is the finished result.  The background, photo and embellishment are all from the same photo.

Here are some of the other embellishments I did over the weekend.  I did found out that a good mouse and mouse pad is essential.  My son  has promised to get me a good mousepad for Christmas – so that he can get his one back.  I ultimate wish is a drawing pad.  Sigh.

I found that having a distinct outline of the image makes it a lot easier to trace around, whether freehand or using the magic wand.

So have fun trying this out.  I am.

Cheers and have a nice day.
