A Photo a Week: Raindrops

Raindrops 1-

This week Nancy has given us an easy prompt (at least for me). Raindrops.  I literally have thousands of photos of raindrops.  Most of them not worthy of a second look.  But I found these photos.  When I have my Social Snappers group we still go out, even in the rain.

Raindrops 2-

And not just raindrops on roses.

Raindrops-

But also on leaves.

All these were taken just around the Heretaunga Womens Centre.

Phoneography Challenge: A Rainy Morning

Delicate Touch of Rain

Good morning from a cool morning.  The sun is just starting to come up.  It is hard to work out what time it is when I wake up now.  It definitely is staying darker for longer in the mornings.  Autumn is definitely here.

It is the last day of March and it is challenger’s choice for Sally’s challenge at Lens and Pens by Sally.  This is when we use our non camera devices.  Even if I don’t have my camera on me I still have my iPhone 5S which has a good camera.

These photos were taken last Sunday.  I was totally bored, along with my parents at their stall at the school fair.  So I had both my phone and my camera with me so I took turns with them.  It rained heavily for about an hour or so and when the sun came out I used the phone to take these photos.  We had a plant stall next to us so I could take these photos without annoying anyone.

Good morning from a cold but sunny Hastings.

This week’s theme from Where’s My Backpack is Fresh.

Travel theme: Fresh

Yesterday I went out to take some photos once the sun came up and there was still some raindrops left on this Hebe.  Everything looked so fresh and clean.

A Word in your Ear: Water, Travel Theme: Glow

DSCF9422

Good morning from a beautiful sunny Sunday.

Today I have stepped away from my comfort zone and combined these two challenges.

I went through my photos for the water challenge – not a problem as I had lots and lots of photos of water.  But nothing apart from the usual sunrises and sunsets for glow.  I wanted something different and then I found this photo of a heavy dew that was glistening or glowing in the sun.  So I played around with the editing to give it a more surreal glow to it.

Here are some other great blogs for both challenges.

Cee’s Black and White Challenge: Small Objects

DSCF8985

Good morning from a cool but dry Hastings morning.

This week the prompt  from Cee for this challenge is small objects.

I used ColorStrokes for the black and white editing as I like the fact I can do different lighting affects.  For all these photos I have used the dreamy affect which makes the textures show up a bit more and make the subjects stand out against the background.

Some more mushrooms.

A magnolia seed pod (?) I found on the ground.

Another leaf.

I have used this photo as I love the silhouette of the birds in the tree.

Cee’ Fun Foto Challenge: Shiny

DSCF6680

This is another great challenge by Cee.  This week it is shiny.  Since we have only had 3 half days of no rain in the past 10 days my post is all about the shiny droplets of rain.  They just glistened when the sun decided to let us know that it is still there.

Phoneography Challenge: Macro

IMG_3768

Good morning from a another damp Hastings day.

What else to do when there is nothing on TV but play around with my phone and photo editing apps.  At least that is what I did last night.   I read about a new app yesterday in my reader so found it last night and played around with it.  Those I will show later.

Anyway this week the challenge is macro.  I have seen some really awesome posts so far this morning.

So here are mine.  They have all been edited with Snapseed.  I am really impressed with the camera on the 5S. It is really sharp and the zoom on it is great.

IMG_3767

This is another photo taken at the same time as my post last Friday in the Look Up, Look Down challenge.

Then I found some small hydrangeas that were interesting both from the front and back of the blooms.

I have no idea what flower this is but it came out well.

Travel Theme: Clean

DSCF6227

Good morning from another grey Hastings day,

Yesterday I made the most of the sun in the morning.  Unfortunately that really didn’t last all day – it rained again yesterday afternoon.

The light was amazing and there was plenty to take photos of.  I went mad with over 700 images in over 2 hours.  After a week of sometimes heavy rains the poor plants and flowers were rather bedraggled.  They had really been washed clean.

Singing in the Rain: Hibiscus and Alstroemerias

DSCF0224DSCF0446

Good morning from a cloudy Hastings.

No challenge this morning.  So here are some photos I took yesterday when we had a break in the rain and the sun came out.  A chance to get out and take some photos.  Some of the flowers were inundated and downtrodden with the heavy rain that we have had.

DSCF0227DSCF0448

These are hardy flowers and put up with the rain rather well.

DSCF0221DSCF0447

I have only used minimal editing for these – only vignettes and framing.

Which do you prefer?
