Good morning, well it is only just morning here in a cold Hastings.  I am late today as I have just finished watching the Eurovision Song Contest.  Four hours of unending singing, dancing, wind machines and special effects.  I had two favourites, Australia and Great Britain.  Just goes to show that my taste is so different.  Australia came 5th, while Great Britain only got to 24th out of 27 with 5 points.  Oops.  I got the feeling of a Neigbhours theme going on.  The countries tended to vote for their neighbours and political allies.  It was fun, and way over the top.  I used to watch it every year when I lived in Austria.  They won it last year with Conchita Wurst, but this year didn’t even get a point, along with Germany.  Oh well, good luck next year then.

Anyway Ailsa at Where’s my backpack? has asked us for our tangled photos this week.

So I have gone for figuratively and literally tangled images.  These were taken at Pakowhai Park a couple of weeks ago and then I edited them with the Tangled FX app on my iPad.

This is such a fun app to use.  It does take a bit of getting used to as the effects can get over the top.

Snap & Zap: Reflections.

Reflections (640x466)

I must have known about this challenge last night as I spent some time playing with my apps on my iPad.  I have a lot of photos of reflections.  Some are really bizarre as they are taken down at Cornwall Park.

I just wanted to see where I could take this one.

Reflection - Photoshop

I went to Photoshop Express and saturated it with a vibrant filter.

Reflections FX Distressed

Then I headed to FX Distressed which added some texture.

Reflections Ansel AffectFor my final image I used the ansel filter.

Actually I must make a confession.  I can’t remember what filters I used.  It was just fun to see where I went.

Gothic original (640x466)

Then I went for a gothic look.  This is the original image.

Gothic artworks (640x466)

Here I tried to find my inner artist with the ArtWorks comic filter. It didn’t end up exactly how I wanted.

Gothic Photoscape (640x466)

So I headed to Photoscape and used one of their filters.  It blurred the edges a bit.

Reflections Tangles FX (640x467)

Then my favourite.  Tangled FX.  Such an interesting spooky affect.

For each Snap & Zap I will suggest a new theme so take a new photo or use an existing photo and edit it with any software you like, so…

  1. Create a new post showing the original
  2. What edits have you made?
  3. What software/techniques have you used?
  4. Link back to the current week’s page

The theme for this “Snap & Zap…” is Reflections.

This is a great challenge to try out new filters and generally just to have fun.  I get a bit carried away and forgot to write down the filters I used.  Too much to think about when the creative juices are working.

Thanks for visiting.

A Word a Week: Spray

Spray

Good morning from a grey Hastings.

This week Sue has come up with the word spray.  I have seen some great posts for this challenge.  So here is mine.

This was taken with my iPhone 5S and then edited with Tangled FX.

Phoneography Challenge: Nature

Hyacinth

Good morning from a warmer and calmer day.  Yesterday was very stormy all over the North Island.  We had a lot of heavy wind and rain again and a small earthquake in the afternoon as well which I didn’t feel, so it can’t have been a big one.  Auckland still has no power so I could well say it was a black Monday all around.

So onto something to take our minds of the weather.  Blooms always cheers me up.

It is the first Monday of the month which means it is all about our nature for Sally’s challenge:’

I take a lot of photos of flowers as you know and love to play around with the editing.  I have already used this first image on another post,  but wasn’t so keen on the editing so I had another go on my iPad with Tangled FX and I think I prefer this image.

Here is another Tangled FX image.

IMG_0297 (640x466)

This was just edited with Photoshop Express.

I have also used this image before but couldn’t resist added a border to it to focus just on the bluebells.

Thanks for visiting.  I will visit all your blogs tonight on my iPad – it is quicker with the app.
