A Word in your Ear: Water, Travel Theme: Glow

DSCF9422

Good morning from a beautiful sunny Sunday.

Today I have stepped away from my comfort zone and combined these two challenges.

I went through my photos for the water challenge – not a problem as I had lots and lots of photos of water.  But nothing apart from the usual sunrises and sunsets for glow.  I wanted something different and then I found this photo of a heavy dew that was glistening or glowing in the sun.  So I played around with the editing to give it a more surreal glow to it.

Here are some other great blogs for both challenges.

Travel Theme: Round

Good morning from a drier and calmer Hastings.

Yesterday I made the most of the golden hour of light.  It was incredible.  At the moment it is a real golden light and showed up the red and browns of our autumn.

These photos were taken at our fence, looking up into the sun.  The colours really struck me when I looked out the window so I raced inside for the camera.  At first I didn’t notice the cobwebs but then when I looked through the viewfinder I discovered them.  They really stood out with the light.

I thought of editing them but I wanted the natural colour to stay and just added a frame.

Travel Theme: Clean

Good morning from another grey Hastings day,

Yesterday I made the most of the sun in the morning.  Unfortunately that really didn’t last all day – it rained again yesterday afternoon.

The light was amazing and there was plenty to take photos of.  I went mad with over 700 images in over 2 hours.  After a week of sometimes heavy rains the poor plants and flowers were rather bedraggled.  They had really been washed clean.

Good evening from a very hot Hastings.  Today we reached 35 degrees celsius which was a tad on the hot side.  It was soooo hot for the Art Deco parade but that didn’t stop all the action.

I thought we could be in for an interesting sunset but was working on the computer and not watching out, when my daughter came rushing in to grab her camera and telling me that I was not to miss it.

While I was taking the photos of thought of WheresMyBackpack.com theme for this week.  Work.  What better work is there? Nature showing off her colourful work.

Here is Ailsa’s post to check out this challenge.

Travel theme: Romance

Good morning from a warm, sunny Hastings.  I do appreciate our weather here much more now, after seeing and reading about the atrocious weather other parts of the world are experiencing.  I hope everyone is keeping safe, warm and dry wherever you may be.

This weeks theme by Where’s my backpack? is Romance.

While out walking one day I came across these hearts woven on a fence with rope.  Someone at sometime wanted to show a message of love to their significant other.  What a cool way of doing so.

Here are a couple of great posts for this challenge.

Travel Theme: Yellow

Good morning from a grey and miserable day here in Hastings.

So to brighten up my day again I have gone for the challenge by Where’s my backpack? and the theme this week is yellow.  And to keep up with my kiwi theme as well I have gone for New Zealand natives for both fauna and florals.

These photos were taken last spring when the kowhai were out in full bloom.  They are a popular flower for a lot of the birds but in particular for the tui.  The tui is also called the parson bird as it has a small tuft of white feathers under it’s beak just like a ministers collar.

I could also put this in the Look Up, Look Down challenge by Debbie at Travel with Intent.  As here are some photos of the reflections of the tree in the stream beneath it.  The colours were amazing.

I spent a lot of time around here.

Good morning from a grey, overcast day.

I loved the post this  morning by Cee’s Photography for the Travel Theme is birds.

So here is my contribution to it.

I have discovered a new editing programme which I saw on lady sighs entry for     Sonel’s Photo-Editing Challenge ~ Nature      .  The GIMP.  Anyway I have been playing around with it and have not really progressed past the round edges.  But as always it is fun to try.

Thank you for visiting and have a nice day.
