Cee’s Black and White Challenge: Older than 50 years

DSCF0078 1.1

My contribution to Cee’s Photography challenge this week.  This silver tea set was given to my parents when they got married in 1960.  So it only just scrapes in.  I wanted to give the photo a vintage look.  First I used ColourStrokes and it’s dreamy filter for the black and white edit.  Then to GIMP for the cartoon filter before using FX Photostudio Pro for a vignette and frame.

Thanks for visiting and here are a couple of other blogs to check out.

Art Deco Hastings.

IMG_2242

Good morning from a grey, wet and windy Hastings.

We are now heading into the Art Deco festival which has activities related to the Art Deco period over the next two weeks, culminating in the Art Deco Weekend.

To find out more about this check out this website – http://www.artdeconapier.com/pages/events

So I have taken the photos from last Monday of Hastings and have edited them with Snapseed to give a vintage feel to them.

Enjoy.

I have started to get my costume together as I love to dress up in the fashions and get in with the spirit of it all.  I have just started to crochet some lace gloves using a pattern from the 1920’s using very fine cotton.  Women back then made most of their clothes themselves as I have done.

Sonel’s Corner Photo-Editing Challenge: Vintage

Good morning from a sunny Hastings.

I love this challenge by Sonel’s Corner Photo-Editing Challenge.  This week it is vintage objects as well as vintage editing.

Last night I discovered Snapseed, a free app for IPhones.  I had taken these photos on Monday with my IPhone 5S while I was at the memorial service for the 1931 earthquake on Monday.  This steam engine was used in the aftermath of the quake to clear rubble and help where needed.  So last night I spent some time playing around with this app.  I love the affects, especially the grunge affect.  What I liked about this affect is that the focus was on the central image, and just faded out the modern background.

I though that this quote was appropriate for this challenge.  I love the vintage affect on these flowers.

There are so many great posts for this challenge so check them out.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Eerie

Eerie 1

Good morning from another sunny Hastings day.

This weeks Weekly Photo Challenge topic is Eerie from The Daily Post  It was coincidence that I was thinking the same thing when I took these photos in Hastings CBD the other night.   It was the twilight zone really and so looking at these chandeliers through the window brought some interesting affects.  I have taken them at night so the just the lights show but taking them at this time of the day added another dimension.  I have edited these photos with the vintage filter on FX Photostudio Pro and added the same G &A frame as they were all taken around the same time.  The vintage filter let me keep some colour while adding a sepia affect as well.
