Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Liquids
Good morning from a wet and miserable Hastings day. We have got off lightly compared to Wellington. There has been a lot of rain and flooding down there and today the trains are not running and people have been encouraged not to go into work today. Some people didn’t even get home yesterday. The hotels then put up their prices for those who had to find somewhere to stay. Where is the community spirit?
Rather appropriate that Cee’s challenge at Cee’s Photography has given us the prompt to find our liquid photos. This photo was taken at the hot house in Cornwall Park last week with my social snappers group.

Cee’s Fun Fotos: Catching people unaware
Candid photography is not really my thing. The only time I take candid photos of people is at the Art Deco Weekend and the Blossom Parade. Cee at Cee’s Photography has given us the prompt of catching people unaware. Candid photos. So this photo was taken at Napier. Someone had put some heavy duty detergent or something into this fountain so that there were bubbles everywhere. I caught this girl playing with the suds and running back and forwards.

Travel Theme: On Golden Pond
Good morning from another hot and sunny Hastings morning. Here I was moaning about the weather being cold last week but now I am moaning about the heat. Actually it is the humidity. When it is a dry heat you can cope with higher temperatures but the humidity is the killer. We had a brief shower last night but that has only made it worse this morning. Sorry about moaning when the northern hemisphere is now into winter. I know that Austria, at least the Tyrol where I used to live, is still waiting for snow while other parts have had their first snow fall of the season. We are never happy with the weather are we?
Anyway onto something a bit more cheerful. Ailsa’s Travel Theme. Which this week is gold.
I took these photos last year in spring. The Kowhai was out in full bloom and the reflections were just amazing. It really was a golden moment.

The Daily Post: Descent
Good morning from a glorious sunny morning here in Hastings. I love sitting at the table doing my blog and watching the birds flying around in our garden. Even though they are just sparrows I love listening to them.
This morning The Daily Post has given us the prompt of descent. As I was going through my photos I discovered these photos of water descending. Even though it is through gravity water will always be heading down.
In the middle of Hastings CBD there is a large water fountain which you have seen before. I was trying to take some good photos of the water running off.
Then there is this large water feature just of to the west of the water fountain. The design is of the grape and fruit leaves to symbolise our orchards and vineyards.

Cee’s Fun Fotos: Blue
Good morning from a sunny Hastings. After the wintery stormy blast on Monday spring has returned and yesterday we had the nation’s high of 24 degrees celsius. My son sweltered in his winter clothes. Today he has changed into his summer uniform.
Anyway this week’s fun foto challenge by Cee is blue.
I found this photo on my iPad and edited it with Photoshop to get rid of any distracting non blue colours. Actually I had a bit of fun with a couple of other photos as you can see.
This was edited with Distressed FX to give this surreal photo.
Again this photo was edited with Photoshop.

The Daily Post: Three, two one gulls at play
Good morning from another hot Hastings. We are expecting over 30 degrees this afternoon which will be hard on those participating in the vintage car show for the Art Deco festival. I will be going over with hubby to see it and of course take photos. I know it would be hard for those in the northern hemisphere that are suffering a terrible winter. So I hope these photos will warm you up.
Time for the weekly challenge by The Daily Post.
When I was over in Napier yesterday I found these seagulls enjoying the cool water. It was very hot and they just seemed to have a great time dipping in and cooling themselves down.
Thanks for visiting and here are some other great blogs to look at as well.

Look Up, Look Down: Water
Good morning from a sunny Hastings.
I loved the post by Cee’s Photography for this weeks challenge – week 21. So today I have a water theme. The above photo is a water feature in Hastings. It is supposed to resemble the tale of a whale. In the water feature itself are grape leaves and vines to represent the wine growing region of Hawke’s Bay.
Looking down in a puddle I could see the reflections of the sun and clouds.
Here is the awesome photos by Cee:

A Word in Your Ear: Track
Good morning from a cloudy Hastings.
While going through my settings yesterday I noticed I can add some snow to my blog until the 4th January. It is the least I could do to get into the Christmas spirit. My daughter is complaining that Christmas is not right in the middle of summer. Actually I don’t mind it. Having had white Christmases, green Christmases, brown Christmases, wet Christmases and hot Christmases I know which one I prefer. But then again there is a distinct feel in the air when trudging through snow in temperatures below freezing to midnight mass in freezing chapel. There is a special feeling listening to the Silent Night in german by candlelight after midnight.
Anyway I digress. This week’s challenge by A Word in Your Ear is track. So I searched my archives and came across these photos of ducks in golden waters. These photos were taken back in spring when the Kowhai trees were in full bloom. On a still morning the reflection of this beautiful native tree is really impressive. I was lucky to find some ducks swimming in them and loved the trail they left behind. Unusually for me I haven’t edited these photos at all. I didn’t want to spoil the colours or affect. I hope you like them.
