Cee’s Oddball Photos: Penguins in Wellington

The Penguins have popped up in Wellington-778

Good morning from a warm Hastings morning.

It is Monday here for me.  I have noticed that I am a day ahead of everyone with their Colour Your World posts.  I have just posted my Shamrock image while everyone is still on yesterday’s colour of Shadow.  It is fun to see how the new colour pops up as the world turns.

Anyway it is time for Cee Neuner‘s oddball challenge.  Thank you so much Cee for featuring my image of the zorbas last week.  It has been crazy in my world and I feel guilty at not acknowledging this honour.

So this week I have some penguins – not from the zoo, but at Te Papa museum.  There is a Dreamworks exhibition on there which my daughter really wanted to see.  The art works were amazing as well as the models.  Then I saw something I really, really want this Christmas please Santa.  Some 21″ interactive writing tabs for PC.  Ooooooh.  (Dream on).

Anyway I love the penguins in Madagascar – they are so cute and one has to love a trier (or two, or three).

Travel Theme: A Refreshing Drink

A Refreshing Drink-761

Good morning from a dark Hastings morning.  Daylight saving finished last night.  So now we are headed for winter.  But our days are still mild.  The opposite to what ailsapm is having over at her blog Where’s my backpack?. And this week’s prompt is ‘Refreshing’

Well I am going to bore you with some more photos from Wellington.  It was warm down there, warmer than I remember from every other trip to our capital.  So the lines for this mobile coffee stand was rather long.

Others lounged around with their refreshments, while enjoying the lovely day.

A Refreshing Drink-

Finally I just had to add this photo from the zoo.  It was a very warm day at the zoo.  So I managed to get this kangaroo drinking some refreshing water.

Thanks for visiting.  I have to go now – market day for me.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Street Art in Car Parks in Wellington

Wellington Car Parks-

Good morning from a cooler autumn day here in Hastings. Yes, autumn is coming – slowly.

Wellington was so colourful. My camera was in constant use.  There was such a contrast in architectural styles – early 20th century, Art Deco, 60’s brick and concrete boxes and modern glass buildings.  There was street art everywhere.  Including this building on a car park close to where my daughter lives.  The car park was empty every time I went past.  I don’t know why. I don’t even know what this building is.

Great for  Cee Neuner‘s fun challenge this week.

One Word Photo Challenge: Hospital Blankets

Hospital Blankets-

Good morning from a warm Hastings day.  Yes I am back from Wellington.  I had a fabulous time with my daughter and her flatmate.  Lots of laughter, and lots of walking – phew.  But more importantly, lots of new photos – 99% non flowers.  Needed a break from my florals.

Anyway we went to Te Papa, our national museum.  Peter Jackson and Weta Workshops has put on this big display showing our involvement at Gallipoli.  It was very sobering and emotional to go through.  As an ex-nurse I was interested in this hospital ship and the role that nurses played in looking after our wounded soldiers.

This photo is a mock up of an hospital ship showing how the men were looked after in different levels according to rank.

This is for Jennifer Nichole Wells‘s prompt this week, which is blankets – lots of hospital blankets here.

I will catch up with everyone at some point but have lots to do.

Thanks for visiting.
