Good morning from a cool and windy Hastings day.
Firstly an update on our earthquake news. Over the week, with more building inspections, more Wellingtonians are being evacuated. It is hard to keep up with all the latest developments. Plus there are predictions of more quakes to come and there is a high risk of landslides around Kaikoura in the South Island. I am ok here in Hastings.
Our landscape has changed too –
Changing landscape
So speaking of landscapes. My two images for Cee’s black and white challenge were taken from the car driving through the Manuwatu Gorge last Saturday. On one side of the river the railroad follows the hillside, while the road is on the other side.
As you can see.

I’m glad you’re okay but I’m sorry to hear they expect more quakes. Your photographs are lovely.

Thanks Gigi. Our other name for New Zealand is “The Shaky Isles”, so we do have a lot of quakes.

Lovely photos, but sad to hear about the continuing quakes and the damage.

The news here is that now you are getting bad weather. I hope you’re doing OK.

Thanks, Emilio. Where I live we are ok. It is further south that is more affected. The bad weather has passed over us and today is glorious. That always brightens up everyone

I really hope you are OK, Raewyn. Your photography especially the first one is wonderful with all the symmetric angles. Awesome! Stay safe, dear friend! ❤

Thanks so much Amy. We are safe where I live. But communities down south are still badly affected. What is really nice to see is how people help one another. That really lifts the spirits

Same thing happened here, Raewyn, when we got hit with 7 feet of snow within 3 days. That is a LOT of snow. People especially the elderly were trapped. To see people come together helping each other out was so wonderful to see!
