WPC: Circles in Hastings

Circle

Good morning from a windy and miserable Hastings day.  Yesterday did turn out to be not so bad, just really windy.  Other parts of the country had a very wet start to the day – in particular camping grounds.

I hope everyone had a great start to their New Year wherever they were and that 2016 will be the ‘year’ for us.  And a big thanks to all my blogging friends for all their love and support of my photography over the past year

For the first post of 2016 Cheri Lucas Rowlands has asked us for circles.

With this theme, you may go literal, and look for things around you with perfectly round shapes: your wedding ring, the bubbles your daughter blows, the curvy sculptures at your local museum, or the glittery sphere that falls during a New Year’s Eve countdown. Or, you might consider what this familiar shape represents: the cycle of life and death, infinity, perfection, and more.

Last year was a good year for me.  Apart from having to shift twice that is.  I joined the Heretaunga Women’s Centre and started my photography group – Social Snappers.  That was really successful.  I have learnt a lot more about photography, along with teaching skills as well.  When I first started I was just so nervous.  Now I am so much more confident.

Secondly I started to paint again.  I say again because I did art at school.  Unfortunately not photography.  But I loved art.  Especially acrylic painting.   This time around I am thoroughly enjoying it.  Again I met some new people and now it is just a great time painting and socialising.

Health wise I am working on.  It has been a real challenge the past couple of years but with my photography I can go out and forget all the aches and pains and just enjoy what is around me.

So my motto this year is onwards and upwards.  My Social Snappers group will of course be going on as well as my painting.  My goal is to find a part-time job as my son will be moving out at some point and I will be on my own for the first time in over 20 years.  A big step.  But I am working on it.

So this photo is a group selfie of my Social Snappers group on the day we went searching for signs of Christmas in Hastings CBD.

Thanks for visiting.

  1. It’s good to start a new year with a positive attitude and plans of activities and making new friends. I’m not doing to well on the “quit eating” resolution. 😦 Will tackle it first thing tomorrow. 😉

  2. Beautiful image. I love those kind of groups selfie. My iPhotographers and I did our reflections in the window of the Senior Center for fun. May your plans for the new year now as you plan.
    Many Blessings
