A Photo a Week Challenge: A Magical Sunrise
Good morning from a cloudy spring day here in Hastings.
Nancy has the perfect challenge for me this morning. Sunrises. I have literally thousands of sunrise photos. But here are my favourites. Driving down in the middle of winter to Otane means I get to see the most amazing sunrises. On this day I wasn’t the only photographer around taking photos.
The views were stunning.
The best sunrises just happen on the coldest days. But definitely worth the early rising for this.

A Photo a Week Challenge: At the Cadillac Diner
This week Nancy wants to see our eateries. So, after much searching my hard drive I found this photo, taken in 2009 of our caddy in front of a Cadillac diner. The gentleman in the blue shirt is my ex-hubby.
Please excuse the quality as it was taken with an older camera.
I believe the diner is no longer there. I got food poisoning from eating there too. That might have had something to do with it’s demise.

A Photo a Week: A Magical Sunrise in the Country
When I read what Nancy’s prompt was this week I knew exactly what photos to use.
Every week when I drive down to Otane it is hard for me to concentrate on my driving.
This day I just had to stop and take photos. I wasn’t the only one. There was another photographer who had stopped as well. I think he was on a mission that day to make the most of this magical sunrise.
I am only 5 minutes away from the country, yet only 5 minutes from the CBD. The best of both worlds.

A Photo a Week Challenge: Hastings Clock Tower by Night
One night I had to go to my doctor. As it is winter it was dark. So I was keen on getting some photos of Hastings CBD by night. I managed to get some photos while my son was getting rather impatient ( he is my chauffeur while he practices for his licence). So I then went back to the car. Except it was the wrong car, and I couldn’t understand why someone was sitting in the passenger seat. Oops. My son was in hysterics over it. I had to laugh too.
Anyway here is our clock tower by night. Very impressive too. Not quite a good quality as it was taken on my iPhone 6S

A Photo a Week: Raindrops
This week Nancy has given us an easy prompt (at least for me). Raindrops. I literally have thousands of photos of raindrops. Most of them not worthy of a second look. But I found these photos. When I have my Social Snappers group we still go out, even in the rain.
And not just raindrops on roses.
But also on leaves.
All these were taken just around the Heretaunga Womens Centre.

A Photo a Week Challenge: Silhouettes
This week Nancy has given us the prompt to find our silhouette images.
These series of photos were taken up at Buff Hill on ANZAC Day. The light was so magical. I was talking to a fellow photographer. He was using his zoom to focus in on the figures silhouetted against the light rays. He didn’t see the light like I did. By using a wider angle lens I made the light rays the focal point of the image.
I have cropped this image to focus on the figures in the foreground and converted to black and white, again to bring the focus on the light rays.
I wanted to show how us humans are so small compared to the magnificence of nature.
